Amber & John

By Brian Fox in weddings

This past weekend brought some pretty nasty weather to Central Florida... but, that didn't dampen the spirit of Amber and John's beautiful wedding on Saturday.  We waited out the stormy weather for about an hour and once the skies cleared, we were greeted with a perfect Florida post-rain late afternoon.  The winds disappeared and the temperature cooled a bit, and the crisp, clear air gave us some really beautiful light for photography.

I've included some of my favorite storytelling images from the day in Amber and John's gallery.

Here's a sneak peek...

Erin & Dave

By Brian Fox in weddings

It seems like ages ago that Erin and I started to discuss her wedding in Sonoma on New Year's Eve 2011.  Well, the event has now come and passed and I cannot believe we are already a month into 2012!

Erin and Dave's wedding took place at the Sonoma Mission at the Sonoma State Historic Park.  Thanks to Erin, I have had the unbelievable good fortune to photograph three weddings for Erin and her family and friends.  And I have another one coming up in June of 2012 in Kenwood, California (thanks, Katie and Owen!).  There's no other way to put it - Erin and her family and friends are just really, really great people.  I consider myself to be very lucky to have been able to spend some time in this group's lives, and I am very happy to call many of them friends.

Anyway, back to Erin and Dave's wedding...

The ceremony took place on a very cool New Year's Eve in Sonoma.  Coming from Florida, I actually love the cooler weather.  From a photography perspective, the wedding ceremony was a bit challenging due to the fact the Mission was very dark once the ceremony started and the lights inside were not not working properly and therefore were dim and/ or flickering for the entire ceremony.  Add to that the fact that flash was not permitted in the Mission and, well... I suppose that's where having pro-level photography equipment comes into play.  It all worked out in the end... the ceremony images actually came out quite nice.

The reception was held at the Sonoma Valley Inn.

See below for a few pictures from Erin and Dave's beautiful event.  I can't wait to come back in June for Katie and Owen's wedding!

Have a wonderful weekend!

The Van Til Family

By Brian Fox in families

I recently photographed a Family Lifestyle Photo Session for the Van Til Family in Windermere, Florida.  I occasionally post images from these sessions on my site, but not always.  Maybe I will start to post more of these images on the site since I seem to be getting more commissions to do these sessions.

Family Lifestyle Photo Sessions are different from my studio sessions in that I will spend two or three hours with the family and just document their every day life with my camera in their own, comfortable environments.  Sometimes we'll travel to a park close to their home... sometimes we will shoot inside the home.  Sometimes we'll go somewhere that has special meaning to the family.  I enjoy these sessions because of the unpredictable nature of the shoot.  You never know what will happen so you've always got to have the camera ready.

Even though on this day we had a beautiful day for the shoot and a gorgeous late-morning light that made the color pictures pop, I thought these images looked even better in black and white.  I'm a huge fan of black and white photography!  Maybe it's the timelessness of a monochrome moment, which is emphasized when there's no color present.  I don't know.  Anyway, we were able to capture many precious moments during our short time together.

The kids started out a little shy, but that only lasted a few minutes.  Obviously, they all know how to "turn it on" for the camera.  Even the youngest, Arden.

Here's a small sampling of the images we captured on our day together... oh, and the first three (3) people to book me for a Family Lifestyle Photo Session and mention this post get 15% off of their session fee!  Whoot!  Happy New Year!
