It seems like ages ago that Erin and I started to discuss her wedding in Sonoma on New Year's Eve 2011. Well, the event has now come and passed and I cannot believe we are already a month into 2012!
Erin and Dave's wedding took place at the Sonoma Mission at the Sonoma State Historic Park. Thanks to Erin, I have had the unbelievable good fortune to photograph three weddings for Erin and her family and friends. And I have another one coming up in June of 2012 in Kenwood, California (thanks, Katie and Owen!). There's no other way to put it - Erin and her family and friends are just really, really great people. I consider myself to be very lucky to have been able to spend some time in this group's lives, and I am very happy to call many of them friends.
Anyway, back to Erin and Dave's wedding...
The ceremony took place on a very cool New Year's Eve in Sonoma. Coming from Florida, I actually love the cooler weather. From a photography perspective, the wedding ceremony was a bit challenging due to the fact the Mission was very dark once the ceremony started and the lights inside were not not working properly and therefore were dim and/ or flickering for the entire ceremony. Add to that the fact that flash was not permitted in the Mission and, well... I suppose that's where having pro-level photography equipment comes into play. It all worked out in the end... the ceremony images actually came out quite nice.
The reception was held at the Sonoma Valley Inn.

I've been helping a friend with a creative brainchild he's wanted to work on for some time. It's been a fun collaboration. He had an idea for creating a character-driven portfolio called "Battle Girlz". He came to me with the idea several weeks ago and we storyboarded how the shoot would flow. We also worked hard on getting just the right models to fit each character's personality.
It's a continuing project, but in the coming weeks and months I'll be sharing photos from some of our shoots.
To start out, here's a shot of our model, Emmy. This photo is a sort of "white whale" of studio shooting... it's actually THE very first photo taken at our shoot! As a photographer, I can tell you that using the first image capture from a photo shoot is rare... it's a testament to Emmy's presence in front of the camera.

In honor of my friend, Arden's birthday weekend I have decided to share this shot of "AC" that we captured one day while goofing off in the studio. We were actually in the studio to photograph Arden's son, Logan and I needed AC to step in for a lighting adjustment before photographing Logan.
I liked the test shot of Arden so much I decided to make a composite out of it. The picture of Arden was captured in the studio and the background was shot in San Francisco. Oh, and Arden works for PUMA. Hence, the nice product placement.
PUMA... if you're listening... we've found your new cover boy!
